Businesses Bowl for a Brilliant Cause at Lincolnshire Marketing Charity Bowling Competition 2025

Lincoln, 4th July 2025 Strikes, spares, and a whole lot of laughs were shared on Friday evening as local businesses gathered at Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln, for the second annual Lincolnshire Marketing Charity Bowling Competition – raising over £1,000 for the Stroke Association.

This year’s event saw a fantastic turnout, with nine teams (eight that played) and 32 bowlers battling it out across two games of ten-pin bowling in a light-hearted, fiercely competitive showdown. The event, organised by Lincolnshire Marketing, brought together professionals from across the region to raise money, have fun, and celebrate the Lincolnshire business community.

Raising Funds, Raising Smiles

The chosen charity for 2025 was the Stroke Association, nominated by Chris Owen of Optimum Safety, who has recently completed a charity bike ride, raising over £2,900 for the same cause. The bowling competition offered a perfect continuation of his fundraising efforts – and what better way to support a good cause than with a bit of healthy competition?

By the end of the night, £1,034 had been raised – and the donation page remains open for those who still need to pay their "fines" or wish to contribute.

The Return of the Fines Master

Adding a cheeky twist to proceedings was Carrie Boughtwood from APT Legal, reprising her much-loved role as the Fines Master. Whether it was a gutter ball, shameless showboating or team sabotage, Carrie was on hand to dish out playful penalties – all adding to the charity total. She was supported by Julia McGinn and Chris Owen.

Trophies, Bragging Rights and the Infamous Bowling Bums

Trophies – proudly produced and sponsored by Allen Signs – were handed out at the end of the evening. The team with the highest combined score was crowned this year’s champions, while the unfortunate team finishing last walked away with the legendary Bowling Bums trophy.

The top spot this year went to Team Cobalt, made up of Dan Temple, Toby Lee, John Stacey, and Paul Green, who bowled their way to a combined total of 915 points. At the other end of the leaderboard, The Scarborough Neanderthals (Robert Drury, Jacqueline Drury, Kate Melton, and John Armitage) took home the Bowling Bums honour – all in good humour!

Everyone’s come together to have a laugh and support a great cause – and that’s exactly what it’s all about. Massive thanks to our sponsors, bowlers, and generous donors. See you all next year!"
